What our guests say about travelling with Walkabout.
With our trusted, fun loving guide Norbert and our ever reliable, helpful driver Given we set off on our 22 day African adventure. The small group (9j allowed for friendships to be made. Truly there aren’t enough words to describe our tour to give you the full picture of the experiences we encountered. I guess I have to mention the wildlife and birds were never ending, certainly more species than I ever expected. The Namibian people are as friendly as you will ever see and the accommodations ranged from luxury, comfortable and to sometimes unique. Visiting a local preschool on their ‘school bus’ was a time I won’t forget. As was the river cruise with Namibia on one side and Angola on the other, locals bathing and doing their laundry on both sides, children of all ages enjoying the river to cool off and have fun, older children netting the river for fish, diving off the banks or welcoming us with song. I walked with three lions which is an experience few can say. With only a couple of one night stays I didn’t feel as if I was always packing my bag. The multiple night stays allowed you to laundry when required therefore you can afford to pack light. No need to take ‘dressy’ clothes it was a very casual trip. I highly recommend this trip, happy to be contacted to provide more detail.

I was not sure about travelling in Africa until a friend suggested this tour. It was so much more than I expected. It was made exceptional by our Leader Graeme, Guide Norbert and Driver Given. Everything was well arranged and accommodation lovely. Norbert had fantastic vision for spotting animals afar and was incredibly knowledgeable, especially about the many varieties of birds. Given managed the many kilometres of dirt roads with great skill. The week at Etosha National Park was a real highlight - seeing so many different animals around the waterholes was fabulous. The tour covered much of Namibia from massive sand dunes, to coast, desert and National Parks. A few days in Botswana and Victoria Falls rounded off a great holiday. Highly recommended.

Another great trip from WGA, Really enjoyed my travels in Namibia, along the sometimes long and dusty roads seeing and experiencing the real Namibia. Some great animal viewing thanks to our wonderful guide Norbert along with amazing African sunsets almost every night. Seeing and visiting happy children that don't have much in their schools and villages, lunch under at tree in the middle of somewhere, happy faces and smiles everywhere we went, swimming pools with great views over plains and where elephants and giraffes drink and roam. As our guide summed up on his t-shirt that he gets for himself every trip - there's more to Africa than just the animals. Thanks Graeme for another memorable trip.

WOW WOW WOW Another amazing trip with Walkabout (Graeme and local guide Nobert). We didn't really know what to expect from Namibia and it gave us heaps: fabulous and varying landscapes including the incredible Namib desert, wildlife from day 1 (we saw 48 animals and lots of birds too), and of course the local people. Walkabout had once again selected interesting boutique and scenic accommodation which was in the main off the beaten track. We had a great group of fellow travellers and enjoyed each and every day including special presentations from locals to some of our crew who experienced wedding anniversaries (54 years, 45 years and birthday). Unforgettable experience.

Great trip. Surprised, especially by Namibia. Vast deserts, long roads, few people. And the animals! Really well looked after, realising how long some of the days were. Everyone remained calm even after hours of corrugations, dust and desert. Dry river beds. Startling horizons and outstanding sunsets. People seemed at least happy and yet there was no doubt they were poor in our terms.

Ian and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being in the wild with the most exotic animals in the world. We were not impressed by the township of Swakopmund and also the Himba Tribe. We felt a little intimidated. All other accommodations and national parks were magic. Seeing our first springbok and then giraffe and elephant, so exciting. Lots and lots of photos were taken. The Hippopotamus made an impression on us, watching them poke their ears and eyes out above the water as if to say, Hello! We loved the journey with Graeme and Pine our guide. The fabulous suggestion of Walkabout Gourmet taking on a project to ensure clean water to the school we visited while staying at the Kaisosi River Lodge, hopefully will be launched. Graeme and guests appeared very enthusiastic. Thank you and enjoy the journey.
