Guided Walking Holidays

If you’re suffering terminal Weekend boredom, try a trip with a difference. Gabriela and Graeme Clarke have combined two separate interests to organise Walkabout Adventure Tours which specialises in gourmet nature walks. Peripatetic gastronomes can walk through glorious countryside, guided by Graeme, who has extensive hiking experience and be rewarded by their efforts by Gabriela’s cooking.

A reasonable, although not ridiculous, level of fitness is required and destinations include the Fraser National Park (for camping),
Port Campbell and the Otways (staying at a farmhouse where black tie is de rigeur for a formal candlelit dinner on Saturday evening), Wilson’s Promontory and the Grampians.

Day tours start from about $45 per head and weekends go up to $200, depending on where you go. The Clarkes’ take a three-month break in winter (when they will be accompanying a gourmets’ tour of
Europe) but there are several tours happening before that.”
