TURKEY in 2014 After Christmas we all managed to get away for a family holiday to Istanbul, Turkey. We had a wonderful time and we were really taken with this vibrant and friendly metropolis. It has been on our mind for sometime so we have now decided to introduce a new walking holiday to Turkey for 2014 - it will be in our 2014 brochure which we hope will be out in the middle of the year. If you would like to receive a copy of the pre departure notes when they become available, please let us know. 2013 WALKING HOLIDAYS FILLING UP FAST We are very happy to see that our 2013 Walking Holidays are filling up fast, quite a few of our walks are already full and general bookings are strong so that is very encouraging. At the present time the following walks are fully booked:  Sea to the Summits (2 vacancies for the last 8 nights - Chamonix & Grindelwald)On the Celtic WayFollow the Gourmet TrailGastronomic TrailExplore Slovenia & CroatiaAfrican WalkaboutOf course we realise that booking numbers change constantly so even though the above tours may be fully booked now, tomorrow we may have a vacancy - if you are interested in any of the above tours, please contact Trish and ask to have your name put on the waiting list. All other tours are available at the moment. Our season this year will begin with Morocco on 6th April and finish with Africa on the 15th October. Our Australian season will commence on the 23rd November with the Grampians & Great Ocean Road. ON THE SNAIL TRAIL "Will I keep up with the group ?" This is a question which many first time walkers with WGA often ask themselves - with this question in mind we decided to introduce the "Snail Trail" to our program back in 2011. The average daily walking time on this tour is 4 hours and the pace is leisurely. Of course not only is this walk very well suited for those guests who haven't been with us before but also for our many repeat guests who are now getting a little older ! So back to that initial question - "Will I keep up with the group ?" - the answer is "yes" and you will enjoy it even more if you do some regular exercise and walking before you join us ! We would like to give you an update with availability for our Holiday Apartments for the coming season. Bookings are very strong for June and September - we still have availability in all other months - so don't forget about our lovely apartments when planning your 2013 European holiday. We shall be doing some renovations on Apt No. 2 during Winter - we have just received the planning permit to build a balcony overlooking our enchanting courtyard. This addition will allow our guests a delightful outdoor area to relax and enjoy their meals during the Summer months. Please refer to our architectural sketch! Happy & Safe travelling! This is our fourth Walkabout Gourmet Adventure and we have enjoyed all our previous trips but this one exceeded our expectations. The itinerary was excellent.
Our four days in Biarritz prior to commencing the walk was delightful with good shopping, food and lovely walks. A day trip to Bilbao to visit the fabulous Guggenhein Museum was a highlight. We chose "On the Snail Trail" because it was less hurried with more time to relax or explore or whatever. We were also keen to return to Provence which we had enjoyed on a previous tour. We loved Gascony & the Cevennes which were new to us and were both very special. We were impressed with the villages, towns and undulating terrain in Gascony and the fabulous Tarn River and the National Park in the Cevennes. All six walks were enjoyable and gave us a greater insight and enjoyment of the individual localities. The three hotels were charming and we enjoyed the regional variations in the cuisine and wines. Our final lunch at Bastide de Moustiers was a gourmet delight and a memorable finish to the holiday. We had a marvellous group of fellow travellers from Melbourne & Sydney. Eight members were first timers and it was interesting to hear them talk about their enjoyment of experiences which we "old timers" took for granted. Congratulations WGA on another outstanding holiday!”
