Guided Walking Holidays in Tasmania

15_days Tasmania, AN Island of Good Taste

TREASURES OF AUSTRALIA

GUIDED WALKING HOLIDAYS IN THE Freycinet NP, Maria Island NP, Field NP, Cradle Mountain

Come with us to Tasmania and allow us to show you an island of truly remarkable contrasts. We make our way along the northern coastline beside the Great Western Tiers. Alpine scenery presents its boldest face in the Tasmanian highlands. From here we continue eastwards to the magnificent Freycinet National Park. Here the craggy granite peaks of this stunning peninsula look down to the blue expanse of Great Oyster Bay.

The jewel though has to be idyllic Wineglass Bay. We spend a day strolling around historic Maria Island National Park. Here we can absorb its fascinating convict and whaling past while admiring the spectacular views and abundant wildlife. In Hobart you can enjoy some "retail therapy" and we have some special culinary treats in store for you!

On Mt. Wellington we do a breathtaking walk around the Organ Pipes with fantastic vistas back towards Hobart and its harbour. Mt. Field National Park is a delightful setting for some gentle walking through magnificent bush land and past some pristine waterfalls. At Lake St. Claire we discover the beauty of this isolated region with 2 magnificent and quite different walks. We travel across the upper reaches of the Franklin river and over to the wild West Coast of Tasmania.

From our base in Strahan you can experience the wilderness of the Gordon River or take a flight over the South West World Heritage area. In the central highlands we visit the World Heritage area of Cradle Mountain. Here we enjoy the comfort and tranquility of Cradle Mountain Lodge amidst one of the most precious primeval places in the world.

OUR HOTELS & CUISINE

Historically, Tasmania is a gem with a multitude of buildings dating back to the 19th century. Some still stand as they were built, others have been painstakingly restored by their new owners.

This has led to the development of "colonial style" accommodation which we have incorporated into our tour. In some of the more environmentally sensitive areas we use some superb new "purpose built" accommodation which blends perfectly into these pristine natural settings.

Naturally the delicious food is a feature of this tour. Rich creamy cheeses, stunning seafood, premium Tasmanian beef and lamb, freshly picked vegetables and of course the famous cool climate fruit and berries.

This cooler climate also means that some of Australia's finest Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs are now produced here too. Not only will this tour introduce you to some of the most pristine places in the world but it will also leave your taste buds tantalized!
