GERMANY & FRANCE
BLACK FOREST, ALSACE, CHAMPAGNE
In Germany we explore the beautiful southern Black Forest. Menzenschwand, a traditional Black Forest village is the ideal place for walking. Our path leads us through those dark evergreens, broken only by clear mountain lakes and farms.
The Alsace is a region blessed with a wealth of beautiful scenery, culture, art and famous cuisine. Its heritage dates back to Celtic, Gallic, Roman, Germanic and Alemannic periods. The storybook villages with the famous half-timbered houses, the romantic castle ruins and the legendary Wine Route make Alsace a fascinating place for walking. It is the home of pretzels, baeckeoffe and tarte flambée and few white wines in the world can match Gewuerztraminer for finesse and breeding.
Champagne is a region in northeastern France and the Champenois vineyards are planted only with Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay by law. The Champagne vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see over rolling hillsides, dotted with picturesque villages.
Behind these billions of fine bubbles is a long history and it wasn't until the late 17th century that the tart wines of Champagne became sparkling wines.
Our walk in takes us through the vineyards and villages of the Champagne region where you will discover monuments and testimonies of a long and glorious past.
